Action Plan Priorities

I believe voters deserve authenticity, transparency, and original leadership. The following action items are my ideas and proposals for improving community engagement, communication, and accessibility within the City Clerk’s Office, and I am sharing them publicly so residents know exactly what I stand for.

Government Transparency & Accountability

I will work to make city government more open, accessible, and understandable to residents. This includes ensuring agendas, minutes, and public records are posted on time, improving access to meeting information, and advocating for fewer important items being placed on the consent calendar that often go without public discussion. Residents deserve to see how councilmembers on the dais make decisions and spend taxpayer dollars through dialogue.

Expanding Public Awareness of Meetings & City Events

Keeping residents informed is one of my top priorities. I support increasing awareness of public hearings, City Council meetings, Planning Commission meetings, committee meetings, and other important city events by ensuring they are promoted across all city communication platforms, including the City of Covina’s social media pages. I also support partnering with local community social media groups and neighborhood platforms to broaden outreach and encourage greater public participation. I believe every resident should have the opportunity to engage with city government and stay updated on meetings, projects, and community issues. Residents cannot participate if they do not know what is happening. FACT: The City of Covina has an Instagram account with over 21K followers and over 1800 posts, and there is no information about city council meetings or commission meetings; the only time they posted about meetings was during Covid.

Public Outreach & Public Service

I want to create community-focused educational workshops for both adults and youth that help residents better understand how local government functions and how civic engagement impacts everyday life. These “Government & Civics 101” workshops would provide practical information on how the city operates, how residents can participate in the decision-making process, and how local government works for the people it serves. I also want to develop a series of mini workshops focused on voting education and the importance of local elections, helping residents understand how their vote directly impacts city services, policies, and community priorities. Also, I want to create a “How to Volunteer” resource guide and webpage that connects residents with opportunities to become more involved in their community through boards, commissions, events, and local organizations. To strengthen communication and public awareness, I support allocating funding for a monthly community newsletter that highlights important city updates, upcoming public hearings, city council and commission meetings, community events, and volunteer opportunities.

Faster Access to Public Information

I support implementing a public records request tracker so residents can monitor requests and response times. I will also advocate for city meeting videos to be uploaded online immediately after meetings so the public can access important discussions without delays.
